Here’s our guide on how Turkish rugs can seamlessly blend with various home styles and some examples.

1. Modern Homes

Key Characteristics:

  • Clean lines
  • Minimalist decor
  • Neutral color palettes

How to Incorporate: In a modern home, a Turkish rug can serve as a focal point that adds a touch of color and texture to the clean, minimalist environment. Opt for a rug with geometric patterns and subdued colors to maintain the modern aesthetic while introducing a hint of tradition and warmth.

4. Industrial Homes

Key Characteristics:

  • Exposed brick and structures
  • Metal and wood elements
  • Concrete

How to Incorporate: Industrial spaces can sometimes feel stark and cold. A Turkish rug can soften the hard edges and add a cozy layer to the room. Choose a rug with deep, rich colors to contrast with the raw materials and bring a sense of warmth and comfort to the space.

Tips for Choosing the Perfect Turkish Rug

  1. Quality Matters: Invest in a high-quality rug. Turkish rugs are known for their durability, and a well-made rug can last for generations. High Pile rugs in particular are good for high traffic areas because they are made with double knots instead of just a singular knot. They are the most durable and ideal for families with kids and dogs!
  2. Think About Color: Choose colors that complement your existing decor. A well-chosen rug can either blend in or stand out as a statement piece. Most shy away from color but this can totally anchor your space.
  3. Pay Attention to Patterns: The pattern should harmonize with other design elements in the room. In a busy room, a simpler pattern might work best, while a bold pattern can liven up a more neutral space -- depending on what you’re going for.
  4. Consider the Room Size: The rug should fit the space appropriately. A rug that's too small can look out of place, while one that's too large can overwhelm the room. A good rule of thumb is to have around a foot of space between your rug borders and any walls.

No matter what type of style your home is, there's a Turkish rug for your space. And a piece of advice - find a rug you love first, and build your style around it second!
